About the Owner
Patricia M. Hudak, Director of PathFinder Tutoring LLC, is an experienced teacher, tutor, and coach. After retiring from the Federal government in Washington, DC, Pat put her teaching and public speaking skills to use in a second career. She has taught K-12 core academic subjects, with special emphasis on math. A tax accountant, Pat has worked with college students pursuing accounting and business degrees. Also, while teaching for the Fairfax County Public School system, she taught accelerated SAT-prep courses to high school students. The curriculum focused on all three elements of the college entrance examination: critical reading, math, and writing.
As PathFinder Tutoring LLC's CEO, Ms. Hudak believes: "Knowledge is the starting point on the pathway to success." The company's goal is to prepare students to achieve their potential academically, instilling self-confidence and helping them acquire life skills to succeed beyond the classroom. As a former senior leader with the Federal government, Pat has years of experience mentoring and developing employees. She applies that same skill set when working with students: establishing a trusting relationship, listening to what the student has to say, setting goals, offering encouragement, and providing honest feedback. Working with individual students long-term (some for as long as 4 years) is a testimony to Ms. Hudak's effectiveness as a study coach.
Pat is a member of both the National Tutoring Association and the Association for the Tutoring Profession. An advocate for students with ADHD, she is an active member of the Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD) organization. Ms. Hudak also supports the following: the National Education Association; ADHD - No Fear, No Limits; Children Without a Voice USA; College Transition for Students With Learning Disabilities; Literacy for Reluctant and Struggling Readers; Test Prep Professionals; and SCAN (Stop Child Abuse Now) of Northern Virginia.
