Karen has a variety of experience in the field of education. She is a certified substitute teacher and has earned a College Counseling Certificate from UCSD.  She has extensive experience working in the classroom, with hands-on programming, providing one on one tutoring, as well as collaborating with parents and educational professionals. She is sensitive to the specific needs of the individual student while maintaining a solid understanding of the big picture of the progression of skills and knowledge needed to be successful from elementary through post-secondary education.

Her varied experience has given her a greater understanding of the nuances of effective teaching. She believes that it is important to meet students where they are and to provide them the tools they need to achieve their goals. She has a calm, patient demeanor and understands the importance of building relationships and mutual respect in order to create an effective learning environment.
